The lecture will be on WEDNESDAY 16th JANUARY.

Brian Davies will give a talk on the Welsh Paintings of Julius Caesar Ibbetson. There is an article about Ibbetson on the This Month page and in the January Focus.

Look out for the new exhibition opening later this month at Abergavenny Museum which will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Museum and 200 years since Castle House was built. ALHS links with the founding of the Museum means this exhibition will be of special interest to members.

Our latest publication: Abergavenny Old Hereford Road Cemetery, Database of Burials and Headstones 1855-1938 is now available. For details see the Books and Leaflets page.

  • Walks

During the longer daylight days, we organise walks around interesting areas of Abergavenny for members and for the public.
    How to book?
Booking is not usually necessary but details are given on the walks page of this website, the press and on posters.
We also arrange guided tours for groups.

  • Visits

    Derbyshire visit 2017

From May or June onwards, we visit places of historical interest, with day, evening and weekend excursions.
How to book? A list is sent out to members by email (or post) in the January. Book as soon as you can as places are now being allocated on a 'first come' basis, although there are sometimes cancellations later. You need to be a member to book for and to go on visits, so you will need to renew your membership before your visit.
